Over the years a number of people have thought this piano ballad is my best song. Though that reaction surprised me, it has always seemed to be the song with the most natural appeal. First written in the late 70's, and now remastered.

Story behind the song
During a troubled period for me in the late 70's, a young female friend asked me if I would store her full size piano in my little one room ground floor apartment, while she was living at no fixed address for a couple of months. It took up a lot of room but at least I wrote this song on it.
Lyrics
Life's empty, so empty, when your woman's not beside you And you've got so much love inside you Life's empty, so empty, when you want so much to cherish But you're afraid that love might perish No, I don't expect people of this world to really understand How I'm driven inside down down a torturous road To a dark and distant land But the words I've bled for the people I've met Some day must have their worth My faith will never leave me though I'm nothing to this world Life's empty, so empty, when the world's just passing by your door But you're too afraid to get hurt once more Life's empty, so empty, when the radio plays songs from the past But your prime of life's speeding by so fast No, I don't expect people of this world to really understand How I'm driven inside down a torturous road To a dark and distant land But the words I've bled for the people I've met Some day must have their worth My faith will never leave me though I'm nothing to this earth...
